Natural Disasters

by Michael Serna on Feb.28, 2010, under Devotion, Events, Video

After a lot of natural disasters in a span of a few months, including my homeland the Philippines as well as Haiti, and now Chile –> I think of Matthew ch. 24:7-14. CNN Coverage of Chile Quake

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Did that scripture kinda scare you? Check out this Haiti video on 3,000 people accepting Christ after an earthquake brought these people down to their knees.

Web Programming www.fil-amworshipcenter.org

by Michael Serna on Feb.26, 2010, under Prayer, Web

Been programming my church website in gearing up towards this Sunday’s Anniversary. So far a clean and modest look, I’m looking for it to be presentable for potential believers in God. Pray that it goes through!

Plant the Seed and Wait

by Michael Serna on Feb.25, 2010, under Devotion

“The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each are rewarded according to his own labor.”
I Corinthians 3:8 NIV

Ever heard of the ol’ saying, “The best things are worth waiting for?” Sometimes we can be impatient when our expectations are so high. Whether it’s waiting for a pizza delivery, waiting for your favorite television show to come on, or getting to a destination-we tend to drive faster than what the law regulates. When it comes to delivering the gospel to a non-believer it is actually God’s work from there. When you deliver the gospel to a non-believer we usually don’t see a person come to Christ right away-sometimes they do! But planting the seed will propel them in coming to Christ. That reach out that you’ve made sticks to their hearts. As it is said, if you keep the word of God, He will never forsake you. God is so powerful that one day that person may encounter a situation where he/she can’t do anything to solve his/her issue. The only answer is to come to Jesus Christ.

The Good in Guilt

by Michael Serna on Feb.25, 2010, under Devotion, Greg Laurie

“And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”
— Hebrews 12:5–6 NLT

Did you know that guilt can be good? Guilt means that your conscience is working. The time to be concerned is when you don’t feel guilt, when you can sin against God again and again and feel no remorse or sense of wrongdoing. Hebrews 12:6 says, “The Lord discipline those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” If you are a believer—one of His sons or daughters—and you go astray, the Holy Spirit will convict you of your sin. He will call you on it, because He loves you. He will reprove you, just like a father reproves his child.

God disciplines His own children. So if you can do things that you know are wrong and don’t feel remorse about it, then I have to wonder whether you are a child of God. But if you feel busted and come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit the moment you cross the line, then that is good. The Holy Spirit is working.

- Greg Laurie

Sometimes you don’t realize the wrong you have committed until it’s too late. It’s a battle of warfare that can be difficult and sometimes we are defeated. Don’t feel so defeated as our God is a God of forgiveness that should not be taken for granted. Once you invoke God’s words from your heart, you are are granted His protection from sin. But we’re all human, but we can also be His disciple. We have the freedom of choice just as America says. So make it a good choice when faced with a tough decision!

Careful how to Preach

by Michael Serna on Feb.24, 2010, under Devotion

At often times I see people in the streets preaching rather yelling the word of God to the public. While I give them some props in standing up for what they believe in … I often find it hard to believe that yelling at people will convict people to come to Christ. After all, Jesus was a caring person at heart.

I noticed one Saturday in front of a grocery store a woman who shared her faith by declaring the wages of sin is death. Yes that is true, but the person also forgot to declare that by receiving Jesus Christ into their life also inherits eternal life.

It isn’t just bad moments or bad “stuff” that just comes out of the bible. Yes we must have reverence but in the bible it also the gospel (good news) in which we must share to people around us.

The Best is Yet to Come

by Michael Serna on Feb.23, 2010, under Books, Random

The next book on my list if an older book from Pastor Greg Laurie entitled, The Best is Yet to Come on what to do when we’re stuck with problems or circumstances that are difficult to face in life. But don’t fret, after all, no matter what issues go through in life, the best is yet to come!

I’ve also been working on some technical issues with my church site, www.fil-amworshipcenter.org. I just found out that the links that link to other pages on our site don’t show our content! Bummer! Boo and fail for MS internet explorer. It’s a fix that I gotta deal with this week before our anniversary comes up on Sunday. That’s the update with me. Hope all is well with you!

Wasted Words

by Michael Serna on Feb.18, 2010, under Devotion

“A useless person causes trouble, and a gossip ruins friendships.” Proverbs 16:28 NCV

Face it: gossip is bad-and the Bible clearly tells us that gossip is wrong. When we say things that we don’t other people to know we said, we’re being somewhat dishonest, but if the things we say aren’t true, we’re being very dishonest. Either way, we have done something that we may regret later, especially when the other person finds out. So do yourself a big favor: don’t gossip. It’s a waste of words, and it’s the wrong thing to do. You’ll feel better about yourself if you don’t gossip (and other people will feel better about you, too). So don’t do it!

Holy Matrimony

by Michael Serna on Feb.17, 2010, under Devotion

“5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matthew 19: 5-6 NKJV

Hey I’m not married, nor even close to it. But I thought the scripture above represents the transition from leaving a single life to be joined with their spouse. The scripture is so delicate yet so strong? heh. Not sure if that’s a good blend but you get what I mean right? The message is simple and powerful. So couples, let no one separate you from your spouse and from your love for God!
