When the Path is Dark
by Michael Serna on Sep.30, 2009, under Devotion, Prayer
Micah 7:8
8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, THE LORD shall be a light unto me.
Doubts come in several shapes and sizes: doubts about God, doubts about the future, and doubts about our own abilities. But when doubts creep in, as they will from time to time, we need not despair. When we sincerely seek His presence – and when we genuinely seek to establish a deeper, more meaningful relationship with HIm-God is prepared to touch our hearts, to calm our fears, to answer our doubts, and to restore our confidence.
Prayer: More is Better
by Michael Serna on Sep.29, 2009, under Devotion, Prayer
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Genuine, heartfelt prayer changes things and it changes us. When we lift our hearts to our father in heaven, we open ourselves to a never-ending source of divine wisdom and infinite love. Do you have questions that you simply can’t answer? Ask for the guidance of your Father in heaven. Whatever you need, no matter how great or small, pray about it. Instead of waiting for mealtimes of bedtimes, follow the instruction of your Savior: pray always and never lose heart. And remember” God is not just near: He is here, and He’s ready to talk with you.

James 14:4
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

The Power of Hope
by Michael Serna on Sep.27, 2009, under Devotion
Psalm 65:5 NLT
I wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
I wasn’t around to post yesterday because I dedicated my entire day visiting my cousin in Oceanside, CA who suffered a heart attack this past week. I don’t recall ever being in an ICU room. I’ve visited many folks in regular hospital rooms, but ICU rooms can be scary. As my cousin lay on his bed with tubes and other devices connected to him, I see the my family worried, anxious, and hoping for what will happen next. Fortunately after 3 days of non-responding, my cousin woke up and was pretty much able to see and recognize everyone in the room. Although he can’t talk, it’s great to see him a bit active. I had the burden to pray because this was a man that served him family quite diligently and will do what it takes to keep em together. Just needs a little Jesus in em.
If you trust God and have faith for the future, your optimistic beliefs will give you direction and motivation. That’s one reason that you should never lose hope, but certainly not the only reason. The primary reason that you, as a believer, should never lose hope, is because of God’s unfailing promises. When you acquire the power of hopeful thinking, you will have acquired a powerful tool for improving your life. So if you find yourself falling to the spiritual traps of worry and discouragement, seek the healing touch of Jesus and the encouraging words of fellow Christians. And if you fall in to the terrible habit of negative thinking, think again. After all, God’s Word teaches us that Christ can overcome everyday difficult. (John 16:33). And when God makes a promise, He keeps it.
Above and Beyond our Worries
by Michael Serna on Sep.25, 2009, under Devotion
Matthew 6:34
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
When you’re worried, there are two places we should take our concerns: to the people who love us and to God. When troubles arise, it helps to talk about them with parents, grandparents, concerned adults, and trusted friends. But we shouldn’t stop there” we should also talk to God through our prayers.
It you’re worried about something, pray about it. Remember that God is always listening, and He always wants to hear from you. So when you’re upset about something, try this simple plan: talk and pray. talk openly to the people who love you, and pray to the Heavenly Father who made you.
Truth – God’s Wrath
by Michael Serna on Sep.24, 2009, under Video
Hopefully doesn’t offend too many folks, including Christians but I thought this video challenges your faith and what and who we are as cold or luke warm Christians. The effects are stunning and I give props to the one that created the video. But the message delivered here gives me bone chills just watching it. Yes we are born of flesh, we have that as a reason we sin. We need to be born again with the holy spirit within. And that’s the only way we can survive God’s wrath.

Romans 14:17-19
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
